Radiotelegraph Operator License (T)
The T authorizes the holder to operate, repair, and maintain ship stations, and to repair and maintain coast radiotelegraph stations in the maritime services. It also confers all of the operating authority of a T2.
Complete the Course
Our recommendation is to take the Radiotelegraph Operator License (T) Course one FCC Element at a time. Start with FCC Element 1 and test when you are ready. Then focus on FCC Element 6 and test when you are ready. Do the same for Telegraphy Elements 1 and 2 when you are ready. You can purchase FCC Element 1, FCC Element 6, FCC Telegraphy Element 1 and FCC Telegraphy Element 2 individually in our shop in order to improve upon an existing license and spread the cost of cost of the course out over four payments. Below is a detailed list of how to complete each element.
- Study the question pool.
- Pass the Final Practice Quiz with a 90% or higher to unlock the Final Exam.
- Create your FCC User Profile and get your FRN (FCC Registration Number)
- Contact us to schedule your Final Exam via Web Conference.
- During the Web Conference we:
- Verify your identity
- Administer the Final Exam
- Email you an online form to fill out
- Check the information provided for typos
Get your Radiotelegraph Operator License (T) Official Copy
- We submit your application to the FCC.
- The FCC processes your application and sends you an email stating “The FCC Pay Fees System link below provides for electronic payment of required fees by credit card.”
- Pay the FCC a $35 fee and they issue your license.
- Download the official copy of your license from the FCC’s Website.
Qualifications
To qualify for a Radiotelegraph Operator License you must:
- be a legal resident of (or otherwise eligible for employment in) the United States
- be able to receive and transmit spoken messages in English
- pass the FCC Elements 1 & 6 examination
- pass telegraphy Elements 1 & 2 (*note: these telegraph elements may be by-passed if you hold an amateur extra license that included telegraphy.)
Term of License
A Radiotelegraph Operator License is issued for the holder’s lifetime.
