Deck General / Safety is a required exam module for following US Coast Guard approved courses
- Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel (OUPV)
- Able Seaman (AB)
Class materials
Everything needed to complete the module is in the online classroom in PDF form and maybe printed.
Complete the Exam Module
No time limit. The module does not expire so you have the time needed to complete it and access to it in the future for review.
To complete the Exam Module unlock the module’s sections sequentially by passing quizzes. Once all of the quizzes in the module are complete a Certificate of Achievement is unlocked. Print it, sign it and bring it with you to the in person final examination.
Schedule in Person Final Exams
Student must have all Certificates of Achievement which make up the course they are testing for before the may take the in person final examination.
The cost of the in person final examination is included in the price of the exam module and takes place by appointment at one of our USCG approved testing sites. You must complete all exam modules that make up the licensing course for which you are testing before you may take the in person final examination.
Follow these steps to schedule in person final exams:

- Contact the instructor and schedule a time that works for both of you
- Show up with your Certificates of Achievement and take the exams
Your instructor grades your exams right away and you know your score. When you pass your exam the instructor emails your student file to US Captain’s Training and we process it. We issue a Certificate of Training which satisfies testing requirements for the USCG.
