Not enough Sea Service to Renew Your Captain’s License?
Take the Online Captain’s License Renewal Course instead of filling out sea service forms. The course is for those captains who do not have the 360 days of sea service required to renew their license or would like to by pass the sea service forms.
You are enrolled in the exam module that makes up the course:

Everything needed to complete the course is in the online classroom.
Complete the Course
To complete the course students must unlock the exam module sections sequentially by passing quizzes. Once all of the quizzes in the module are complete a Certificate of Achievement is unlocked. Print it, sign it and bring it with you to the in person final examination.
No time limit. The course does not expire so you have the time needed to complete it and access to it in the future for review. As an added bonus you will have access our newest versions of the course as they arrive.
Schedule in Person Final Exams
The cost of the in person final examination is included in the price of the course and takes place by appointment at one of our USCG approved testing sites.
Follow these steps to schedule in person final exams:

- Contact the instructor and schedule a time that works for both of you
- Show up with your Certificates of Achievement and take the exams
Your instructor grades your exams right away and you know your score. When you pass your exam the instructor emails your student file to US Captain’s Training and we process it. We issue a Certificate of Training which satisfies testing requirements for the USCG.
Certificate of Training
You must include your Certificate of Training in your Application Packet which is mailed to a Regional Exam Center to renew your captain’s license. Your Certificate of Training is emailed to you once your file has been processed. You also received two hard copies of your Certificate of Training and a receipt for the course via snail mail. One copy for your records and one to send to the USCG in your application packet for your license.
To get your captain’s license renewed you must submit an Application Packet to the US Coast Guard Regional Examination Center (REC).
